In Loving Memory of
Louis John Power
1969 - 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Louis Power, a loving father, brother, uncle and friend. Predeceased by his parents Benny Power and Geraldine Thistle; Uncles John, Jim and Pat; Aunts Elizabeth and Bride, Aunt Phyllis Thistle; his best and lifelong friends Charlie and Johnny Hennessey, with special mention to Edward English (AKA Cuz).
Leaving to mourn are his daughters Myah Nash-Power, Kayla Blackwood and their mothers Petrina Nash (Mark) and Elaine Blackwood (Neil); his Brother George Faetz and son George Jr., Aunt Patricia Bovaine (Richard), Janet (Tony), Uncle Gerald (Anna); Also, a large circle of family and friends, special mention to Tommy and Billy Hennessey, Geraldine Power, Helena Nash, and his Work Buddies Ricky Strickland and Wayne Frampton.
Louie grew up with his loving Grandfather Alban and his Uncle Gerald who raised him like a son. He also enjoyed the time he lived with John and Helen Hennesey who treated him as they would their own. At the young age of 16, Louie left for St. John’s to pursue his passion in cooking where he attended College of the North Atlantic and received his certificate in cooking. He had a love for cooking and creating tasteful food, he could create a meal out of almost anything, safe to say you would not be hungry when Louie was around. Shortly after, Louie headed for the mainland where he stayed with his loving Grandmother Gene, the sweet little lady whom he used to call Sophia from the Golden girls. While there, Louie worked alongside his best friend Charlie for years at almost anything from working with moving companies to driving 18 wheelers. He then headed west and continued to work, there was nothing he wouldn’t try. Eventually Louie ended up back where he started out in his hometown of Branch where he finally settled and started a family and created a home for himself and successfully owned and operated two businesses for many years. Louie was proud to tell everyone he became a family man and owned his very own companies. Louie never had it easy and was never handed anything, he fought like a dog to get what he had.
Louie was a loving and caring Father, he made sure his girls always felt his love and made sure they felt wanted and would do anything for them. When the girls were spoken of you could see the sense of pride just glowing, to Louie in his life this was his biggest accomplishment, they are still his pride and joy.
Louie's passing was a shock and has left a huge void for all of those who were closest to him, but he has left us all with fond memories that will last a lifetime. Wherever Louie is I'm sure he and Charlie are having a time listening to their favourite song, "Seasons in the Sun."
Visitation and service information to be announced at a later date.
