In Loving Memory

John Thomas Power

November 27, 1946 - November 25, 2024

John gained his angel wings on November 25, 2024 at 12:25pm Monday afternoon, just two day's shy of his 78th birthday.

Predeceased by his father Alban, mother Mary, brothers Pat (Anne) and Bernard, infant brother John, his twin brother Jim, sisters Elizabeth and Bride (Ray), and sister-in-law Lucille (Majel), as well as parents-in-law Mike and Hilda Lundrigan.

Leaving to mourn the great loss, his wife Theresa of 49 years, his sons Stephen, son Michael (Allison), and daughter Mary; grandchildren Robyn, Joshua, Cody, Riley, Zachary and Destiny; sisters Patricia Bovaine (Richard) and Janet (Tony); brother Gerald (Anne); his nephews and nieces who thought the world of him; sisters-in-law Joanne, Bridget, Evelyn, Angela, Rita and Genie; brothers-in-law Matt, Mike, Bobby, Danny and Tommy; as well as many extended family members and friends.

John was above all a family man to his last days.  He lovingly remembered his twin Jim, his siblings, parents, and his childhood days.

When his sons or daughter, and especially his wife Theresa, were spoken of he'd become very emotional, remembering his days as a dad and husband. He outdone himself when grandchildren were mentioned, as well as his nephew Dee. He would have been beaming with pride to meet his first great-grandchild.  The people he cared for in his home care business were like family, his love and care for them was abundant and evident to the end of their days.

John didn't idle well, he was a working man.  He couldn't stand the word "can't" and in John's mind, "anything was possible."  He filled his days with things he loved: cup of tea, bread and molasses, chats at the kitchen table, his firm belief in the Catholic faith, his rosary, his many walks (especially around Branch), keeping his property and his cars clean, and sharing his vast knowledge of the Cape Shore geography and history. He welcomed everyone into his home, and shared his time and energy.  He had an over abundance of love for stray animals, especially cats.

His faith was strong and he was not afraid of life after he closed his eyes in death.

Visitation to take place at Holy Rosary Church, Branch starting Tuesday, November 26th in the afternoon. Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00am on Thursday, November 28th at Holy Rosary Church.

May his memory live on in all who had the pleasure of knowing John.
