It is with
profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the tragic passing of
Patrick Jamie Bishop, affectionately known as PJ to his family and
friends, at the young age of 36 years.
PJ was a
beloved father, partner, brother, uncle, and friend to so many. To
know him was to love him. He will always be remembered for his quirky
sense of humour, quick smile, infectious laugh, and easy nature. He
could spin a yarn with the best of them and had many a tall
tale.
He had a passion for the outdoors and was an avid
hunter and fisher, spending many days in the country with his faithful
companion Mya. He loved to create whether it was woodworking, carving,
welding, even sewing – everything from nativity scenes to
furniture to quilts! He had an inquisitive mind and enjoyed figuring
out how things worked, from motors to electronics - even at the young
age of 10 when he took apart a radio, arced out a battery and burned
off his eyebrows! Every day was an adventure with PJ and you
never knew what he would do next.
PJ is reunited
with his parents Violet and Patrick Bishop; grandparents Hannah
Layden, George Temple, Cecelia Bishop, Patrick "Ambrose"
Bishop, Chesley "Don" Layden; brother-in-law David Tobin;
aunts Alfreda Gregory, Sheila Greening and Mary Murray; uncles Wayne
Temple and James Bishop.
His unexpected
departure has left a void in the lives of all who knew him. He will
forever be remembered by his partner Nichole Greene; children Jack
(15) and Emmalee (9) who were his shining stars; His sisters Tonya
Bishop (Darren) and Melissa Tobin; half-sisters Nyna Despres, Malinda
Bishop, Anna Leroux, Wanda Bishop and half-brother Michael Bishop;
Also left with fond and loving memories are his aunts and uncles Ray
Temple (Edna), Gorman Temple (Marilyn), Robert Temple, Theresa Brown
(Allister); his nieces and nephews especially Samantha Bishop,
Cassandra Hayward, Joshua Greene, Nick Greene, Aliyah Patten, and
Kian Tobin. As well as many cousins and other family and
friends. PJ would want to give a special mention to Margaret Bishop to
whom he grew closer after the passing of her husband Tom, and his
lifelong friends Lloyd Traverse (Elizabeth) and Fergie
Power.
Cremation has
taken place. Visitation will take place at Maher’s Funeral
Home, Placentia on Saturday, November 23 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm
& 7:00pm to 9:00pm. A celebration of PJ’s life will
take place on Sunday, November 24 at 12:00pm at Maher’s
Funeral Home.
In lieu of
flowers, the family is accepting donations to assist with funeral and
estate costs.
