It is with saddened hearts
that the family of Leo Francis Smith announces his passing on
September 12, 2024, at the age of 78. He was predeceased by his kind
and courageous wife, Gloria (Bruce) Smith.
Leo was well known in the Placentia area as a
retired science teacher. He had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed
hunting, fishing, and spending time in the woods. During the summer,
you could always find him working in the bog, farming vegetables and
rhubarb. His green thumb produced the very best garlic and cherry
tomatoes.
Leo didn’t need to travel far from Old
Settlement Hill; he was fulfilled by days well spent with family and
friends in his hometown of Freshwater,
Placentia.
Leo was very proud of his two children and two
grandchildren, who meant the world to him. It is with loving memories
that we say goodbye to Leo as he rests peacefully. He will be
remembered for his wisdom, sense of humor, and good-natured
company.
Special thanks to the staff at Lions Manor for
the care and compassion they provided Leo in his last
years.
There will be no service or visitation. In lieu
of flowers, consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s
Society.
