MANNING, Julia Mary (Careen) [1931 … 2011] Teacher, devout Catholic, devoted wife and mother, au courant grandmother, exceptional friend, gracious hostess, superb cook, avid gardener, spirited community advocate, true pacifist.

Passed away in the presence of her family at the Placentia Health Centre on May 5, 2011, exemplifying the grace and dignity that characterized her 80 years of life.

Predeceased by her beloved daughters, Mary and Margaret (infant); parents, Margaret (nee Conway) and Patrick Careen; step-father Gordon Young; sister Mary Ann Lundrigan; brother Anthony Careen; daughter-in-law Eileen Gidge-Manning; sister-in-law Mary Ann English (Leo); and brothers-in-law, John, Michael, Leonard (Nora), and Gerard.

Cherishing their memories of an unparalleled woman, her husband of 59 years, Walter; her six sons, Eugene (Joan), Walter, Pat (Colleen), Calvin (Rhonda), Fabian (Sandra), Michael (Tracey), and daughter, Roslyn; her brother, James (Donna); son-in-law, Derm; her 21 grandchildren, Sara (Nathan), Jean, Judy, Walter, Janice, Catherine (Mazin), Suzanne, Claire, Eugene, Andrew, James, Luke, Fabian, Kyle, Mark, Julia, Jacob, Kathleen, Emily, Heather, and Mary; two great-grandchildren, Charles and Heidi; best friend and sister-in-law Monica; brother-in-law Allan (Mary); sisters-in-law, Nora and Yvonne; special friend Eleanor Nolan; and a large circle of extended family and friends.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Manning’s Funeral Service. Resting at Sacred Heart Church, St. Bride’s. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Ronald McDonald House. Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011, followed by interment at the Roman Catholic cemetery, St. Bride’s.
